When Furnace Installation Is the Right Job
Installation means this is an instance where we are putting in a furnace where there wasn't one, or where the heating setup is changing.
If you already have a furnace and it's aging or failing, that's a different job. See our furnace replacement page, which covers swapping out an existing unit.
Sizing Is Everything
The single biggest factor in whether a new furnace performs is whether it's sized correctly for the space.
There's a long habit in this trade of going bigger "just to be safe", which is the wrong instinct. An oversized furnace heats the space fast, shuts off, and fires again a few minutes later. This type of short-cycling wears out the equipment, wastes fuel, and leaves the house with uneven temperatures and humidity swings. An undersized one never keeps up on the coldest days.
When we install a furnace, we size it to the actual heating load of the space, so it runs steadily and efficiently rather than fighting itself. On a new build especially, getting this right from the start pays off for the life of the home.
We Convert Oil Systems
If your home is on an oil-burner system, we don't service those, but we will replace them. Converting an older oil setup to an efficient LP or natural gas furnace is a job we do regularly, and it's usually a big step up in efficiency, cost, and convenience. If you're tired of dealing with oil, we can walk you through the options.
How We Install a Furnace
- Assessment and load calculation. We evaluate the space and calculate the actual heating load.
- System selection. We help you choose the right furnace and fuel type (gas, LP, or electric) for the home, your efficiency goals, and your budget.
- Installation. This is done as a fully licensed setup. Everyting from ductwork connections, gas and electrical, and venting. All done to spec.
- Testing and commissioning. We verify the furnace is running safely and efficiently, check the venting and combustion, and confirm it's heating the way it should before we leave.
Considering a Heat Pump Instead?
Furnaces aren't the only way to heat a home. If you're building or upgrading and want to weigh your options, a heat pump can be an efficient choice in our climate. We can talk through whether that fits your situation. See our heat pump installation page for more.
