Indoor Air Quality in Hutchinson, Dassel & Surrounding Areas

to request service.

The air inside your home is often dirtier than the air outside it. In Minnesota, houses are sealed up tight for months at a time, and this means whatever contaminants are in the air keep recirculating. Charity Heating and Cooling installs indoor air quality equipment that helps your family breathe better and stay healthier.

The Equipment We Install

Here's the specific gear we put in homes, and what each piece does:

NuCalgon iWave

iWave (air ionizer)

Installed in the airstream near the filter, the iWave sends out ions that break down odors, allergens, and pathogens throughout the air moving through your home. It works alongside the Scorpion.

NuCalgon Scorpion

Nu-Calgon Scorpion (UV light)

Mounted above the coil inside your system, it uses UV-C light to kill mold, viruses, and bacteria as air passes through. It's one of the most effective things you can add to a system.

Both are designed to reduce mold, viruses, and bacteria by up to 99%, and both can go on any system, whether it's a new install or one you've had for years.

We currently include the Scorpion and the iWave free with every new system installation. Ask us about current offers.

Homeowners Underestimate Mold

Here's the problem we see a lot, especially in older homes: your AC coil sits in a warm, damp, dark spot during cooling season. These are the exact places mold likes to grow. Once it's in the coil, your system is quietly blowing it through the house every time it runs.

You can't always see it or smell it, but you may feel it. Allergy flare-ups, a stuffy feeling, that "something's off" sense in a house that's otherwise clean. This what the Scorpion's UV light was designed to do: kill mold at the coil before it spreads.

Why Managing Humidity is So Important

The amount of moisture in the air is critical to your level of comfort indoors. In the summertime, humid air feels warmer and stickier than it is, and a home that's damp even when it's cool never feels quite comfortable. A properly running AC pulls moisture out as it cools. During the winter, heated air gets bone-dry, which shows up as static shocks, cracked skin, and that scratchy-throat feeling. A whole-home humidifier fixes it far better than running little units room to room.

Our guys can help balance both extremes. The goal is air that feels comfortable year-round, not just air that's the right temperature.

New Homes Need Fresh Air On Purpose

Newer homes are built tight and well-sealed, which is great for efficiency, but it also means they don't "breathe" much on their own. This causes stale air and moisture build up. That's why air exchangers are required in new Minnesota construction: they bring in fresh outdoor air and exhaust stale indoor air without throwing away all the heat you've paid for.

If you're building, or your air exchanger isn't working the way it should, we can help make sure your home is getting the fresh air it needs.
